BILL MCANALLY LEADS NASCAR WEST SERIES CAR OWNER POINTS

When Bill McAnally went from driver to car owner in 1998, it all looked so easy. He began his role as owner with Gary Smith as his driver, Smith, the son of four-time NASCAR champion, Roy Smith, quickly put the #16 NAPA car in victory circle.

Sean Woodside took over the wheel in 1999 and was instrumental in helping McAnally win his first NASCAR West Series Championship....a feat accomplished in McAnally's first full year as a car owner!

In 2000 Brendan Gaughan took over the #16 NAPA ride and McAnally ran a multi-car operation out of Michael Gaughan’s shop in Las Vegas. Gaughan brought two more championships to McAnally in 2000 and 2001.

It was three championships in three years and it looked like there was no stopping him.

Then came several more talented drivers and several more years, but the championship eluded McAnally.

Now with Eric Holmes, McAnally is once again leading the car owner points…but can it last? Can McAnally’s #20 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota maintain the lead over the #2 Bennett Lane Winery car of fellow car owner, Randy Lynch? How about Bob Bruncati and his #22 Sunrise Ford with Jason Bowles as the pilot? Could they be poised to close in on the points?

Stay tuned with the points so close…it is still anyone’s game. And it sure is fun watching it all unfold.
