Hot, Hot, Hot. No other way to put it. Pawn X-Change Mid Season Championship Night at Evergreen Speedway was on fire! The Mini Stocks set fire to the grass outside of turn three of the 3/8's oval and Jason Frasier and Naima Lang provided the heat in a side-by-side duel for the lead, on the Evergreen's big 5/8's oval. After early leader John Zaretzke gave up the lead to Frasier, and a double file restart allowed Lang to take hold of the lead, the battle was on. Frasier grabbed the inside groove in turn one when Lang went up a groove but Lang held tough on the outside holding Frasier down and unable to grab traction and take the lead. The crowd roared lap after lap as they battled through traffic. Finally a lap car held up Lang and he was relegated to finishing second. Kelly Mann battled through the pack to climb up on victory stage for a third place finish.
The Pawn X-Change Super Figure Eights put on a fabulous show for their class sponsor. The "Cowboy" John Carlson, defending champion and current points leader, continued his awesome run of main event wins handily claiming not only the trophy for the win but also a nice basket filled with chocolates, champagne, a $100.00 gift card and other goodies! Second and third place winners Bill Wade and Doug Delfel also received nice baskets and trophies as well.
Les Schwab Tires Bombers raced tough as usual and defending champion Lane Sundholm took command and drove to victory. Current points leader Jim Foti, after a first lap mishap sent him to the back of the field, charged his way all the way to second. An impressive sure, third place was claimed by Jill Lang who ran the tires off her car early running the outside groove, but was able to close with the field and make the podium.
The NASCAR Mini Stock main event went kind of the way its gone for a the last couple weeks. Chuck Richard took the lead early on, passing Dale Creager, and finally was run down by Mark Weedin. Weedin won with Richard and Kris Harriss just beating Dale Creager for the third place finish.
Stinger Eights also saw another defending champion doing well as Mike Middelton drove through a big field for victory and long time veteran Ben Chandler racing as tough as he's been for a while fighting off many challenges and climbing up on victory stage once again for a nice second place finish. A wild finish for third left J.J. Edwards standing on the podium thankful and smiling.![]()
