FLIPPIN, Arkansas – After taking a weekend off to freshen his equipment, Dusty Johnston will return to action behind the wheel of his #16 GRT By Frye/Kuntz & Co. Racing Engine Super Late Model with a pair of events in the Show-Me state.
Johnston was last in action two weeks ago with the M.A.R.S. series as sixty-five Super Late Models turned out for the $10,000 to win/$700 to start event at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri in the O'Reilly Late Model Challenge, which featured nine different Super Late Model tours. Dusty drew a sixth starting spot for his heat race. With passing points in effect, Johnston advanced to a 4th place finish at the end of the 10 lap event. Via his heat race finish, Johnston started 3rd in his b-main event and battled his way to a second place finish, which earned him the 19th starting position in the coveted 51 lap feature event. In the main event, Dusty would record a 17th place finish.
“It really meant a lot to qualify for the race at Lucas Oil Speedway with the caliber of competition that was on hand, and although we didn’t get the finish that we had hoped for, we learned a lot about the car,” remarked Johnston.
This weekend Dusty will head back into battle. The weekend gets underway on Thursday, June 3rd at I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Missouri with a $3,000 to win challenge event between the M.A.R.S. and D.L.R.A. Late Model Series. Johnston is currently fifth in the O’Reilly M.A.R.S. point standings. For more information, please visit www.MidAmericaRacingSeries.com .
