BRENDAN LANGLOIS VICTORIOUS AT ALTAMONT MOTORSPORTS PARK

Canadian Brendan Langlois scored a solid win in the United States Auto Club (USAC) California Pavement Series this past weekend at the Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, California. Leading the final three laps, Langlois took the checkers and advanced to fourth in the overall series point standings.

Langlois, who is a member of the Ron Sutton Winners Circle Driver Development Program (RSWC), qualified his midget machine in the third position with a 13.297 lap time missing the pole by a mere .071. The talented rookie improved in the heat race by taking home the second position which setup a fifth place starting spot for the feature event at the challenging Altamont Motorsports Park facility.

As the green flag flew, Langlois looked to be a driver on the move as he progressed forward and was running third by lap 26. Running with the lead trio, Langlois showed the patience of a seasoned veteran as the two leaders got together leaving a small opening for Langlois to sneak by into the lead. The talented Canadian led the final three circuits to claim his second victory of the season.

“I was lucky to get the win today,” explained Langlois after the race. “I was able to put myself in the position to win and capitalize on other driver’s mistakes. I am happy for the team as they worked hard and deserve this win more then anyone.”

Langlois was fortunate to last the race as he and a fellow competitor made contact earlier in the event. With an aggressive overtaking maneuver attempted by another driver, Langlois had to get on the brakes and lost all his momentum, causing cars to stack up behind him - one which launched over his left rear wheel. With no suspension or drive train damage, Langlois was able to continue on and eventually score the victory.

After his driver’s win, Ron Sutton went on to say, "Brendan continues to prove he is the real deal in race cars. He went from Stars of Karting Champion to two time USAC race winner, plus winning a trophy dash and fast qualifier in this highly competitive series very quickly. The team and I are super impressed."

With his recent results, Brendan Langlois currently sits fourth in the overall series points standings even after missing the first event. The Canadian pilot will now travel to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring for an event on July 3rd.
