On June 22, 2008 the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds opened their facilities to CalFire and the firefighters who are helping to battle the blazes in Mendocino County. The facilities will continue to be made available as an evacuation site for the large animals that are stranded from the fires. In an effort to work with CalFire, Ukiah Speedway and our community, the Ukiah races which were scheduled for this weekend, along with the fireworks show, have been put on hold until further notice. This decision was made with consideration of the air quality in Ukiah and in an effort to assist CalFire in battling the fires throughout Mendocino County. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding during this time of crisis in our county.
