WARN GAINS POINTS AT TOYOTA SPEEDWAY

IRWINDALE, California -- Every race car driver straps into their racing machines believing that it could be their night. There is only one race winner per event, but there are many others who celebrate a victory after the race is over. Though Jim Warn, driver of the MJ2 Racing Chevrolet did not even finish in the top ten in the NASCAR Camping World Series race at Toyota Speedway, he and his team did have reason to celebrate.

Warn Qualified a disappointing 18th in the 31-car field that was set to make 200 circuits around the ultra-fast half-mile paved oval. The race was broken into two segments and that would prove beneficial to Warn. Through the first 100-lap segment Warn fought a loose race car eventually spinning on lap 40 and losing a lap to the field.

Warn fell to 28th in the running order but steadily worked his way back into the top 20. By the time the mid-way break came, Warn was running 19th. The crew changed right side tires and made a chassis adjustment hoping to tighten the car up.

The adjustment was not enough as the car stayed loose during the closing laps of the race. However, Warn did what he could with the car and ran his own race. That strategy netted him a 15th place finish in the run down but more importantly the finish boosted him to within one point of the top ten and into second place in the rookie-of-the-year race.

"The car was a handful all night," Warn said. "I like to drive a loose car but too loose is a problem. We just missed the right set up for the track conditions but I did learn a lot about how to drive this track. I know we will have a more competitive car when we come back next month."

Even though the finish did not make headlines, Warn was happy at the conclusion of the event. "We really did not run that good but we did pick up a lot of points. We are a rookie team and to be knocking on the door of the top ten at this point of the season is a good thing," Warn continued.

"We are gaining ground each race," Warn said. "Of course we want to have better finishes, but we are finishing and learning a lot that helps us for the next race. I am really looking forward to the rest of the races this season."

Warn and his MJ2 Racing team will be back in action Friday, July 11 at Douglas county Speedway located in Roseburg, Oregon for round eight of the 13-race schedule.
