![]() ANTELOPE, California –The heat was on at the NASCAR Camping World Series West race at the Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, California. Before a sellout crowd on July 4th and with temperatures over 100 degrees, the driver of the No. 16 HASA Pool Products Toyota Camry for Bill McAnally Racing would finish ninth in the 200-lap race after qualifying in 20th. Moses Smith collected the Powerade Power Move of the Race award for position improvement. Smith’s race actually started from the back of the 30-car field after NASCAR track officials found that the No. 16 HASA Toyota was two decibels too loud per the track rules. Crew chief Duane Knorr and the No. 16 team from BMR made the adjustments which required Smith to start from the back. By the time he saw the first caution come out at lap 24, Smith had already gained ten spots. When the caution came out to begin the scheduled break at lap 100, the No. 16 HASA Toyota was in 14th. He was one spot out of the top ten when the race was red flagged after a multiple car crash in turns three and four at lap 185. With 15 laps to go, Smith would gain two positions. He remains in seventh in the chase for the NCWS West championship. The team would like to thank the more than 260 HASA customers that came out to cheer for Moses Smith and the No. 16 HASA Pool Products/White Flyer Toyota team. Smith spent some time after qualifying the No 16 Toyota in the HASA Hospitality tent. The HASA guests were able to watch the race from special reserved seating in turn one across from the No. 16 HASA pit box. Smith and the HASA team next heads north for the Toyota Bi-Mart Firecracker “150” presented by NAPA AUTO PARTS on Friday July 11, 2008 at the Douglas County Speedway. The race will be televised live on HDNet beginning at 8:30 pm PST and presented in an enhanced replay on SPEED Channel’s “Racing Across America”. Check your local listings.
