WARN MAKING PROGRESS IN HIS ROOKIE SEASON

AURORA, Oregon -- For Jim Warn, driver of the MJ2 Racing Chevrolet on the NASCAR Camping World Series, the trip to Douglas County Speedway located in Roseburg, Oregon is kind of like coming home. Warn makes his home three hours north of the 3/8-mile paved oval and this marks the only visit to his home state by the marquee series of the west coast.

Through seven races this season Warn continued to grow and progress as a driver in the series that has produced such talents as Kevin Harvick, Chad Little, Derrike Cope, and one of NASCAR's greatest 50 drivers, the legendary Oregon native Hershel McGriff. Warn currently sits one point out of the top ten after a 15th place effort last week.

"This has not been the season I expected, but all things considered I am pretty happy," Warn said. "We are running at the end of races and learning a lot everywhere we go. I have never seen most of these tracks and I feel that we have adapted pretty well."

With only one Did Not Finish on his stat sheet, Warn has met the challenges that face every rookie in the series. "I knew this would not be easy," Warn continued. "I hate to look forward to next year, but I know everything will be a whole lot better visiting these tracks next time around."

Before thinking about return trips, Warn and his MJ2 Racing team have a formidable challenge ahead of them this weekend. Douglas County is a tight, tough-to-pass bullring that can be unforgiving. "We raced here last year in a Late Model and we were lucky to have the fenders left on the car," Warn said. "Our only real focus in on qualifying well. We have proven that we can race well and finish this season but we must qualify in the top five in order to set ourselves up for a good finish at Douglas County."

Warn may have a little added incentive this week and many of his family, friends, and business associates will make the trek to Roseburg to see the action first hand. "A lot of the folks close to me have been watching the races on HDNet all season, so it will be cool to have them here in person."

Warn drives a team car to Jeff Jefferson and is sponsored by MJ2 Racing, Gran Prix Imports, and Leupold Optic. The car is powered by a Chevrolet NASCAR Spec Engine and sits atop a Hopkins chassis. Warn is in his rookie campaign on the NCWS and has seven career starts with one top ten finish this season. Warn currently sits second in the Sunoco Rookie-of-the-Year standings and 11th in the overall driver standings.

The Toyota Bi-Mart "150" at Douglas County Speedway is round seven of the 13-race NASCAR Camping World Series-West schedule for 2008. The race will be televised live on HDNet with the green flag slated for 8:40 pm (PT) and set for an enhanced reply on SPEED Channel July 24 at 12:00 pm (ET). 2008 is the 55th year of competition for the NASCAR Camping World Series-West.
