HOLMES AND THE NO. 20 NAPA TEAM WIN AT THE TOYOTA BI-MART FIRECRACKER “150”

ANTELOPE, California – Bill McAnally Racing’s driver Eric Holmes took the lead with eight laps to go and recorded his fourth victory of the season in the NASCAR Camping World Series West. The No. 20 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry was the dominant car as Holmes was quickest during the final practice and set a new record at qualifying with a time of 14.972 seconds. Holmes led 105 of the 150-lap race. He extended his points lead to 71 points in the NCWS West championship standings.

Holmes led the first 98 laps but had to duck into the pits at lap 98 with a flat right front tire. Crew chief Ty Joiner and the No. 20 quickly put on a fresh Goodyear tire and he reentered the race at the tail end of the lead lap. Holmes made a charge to the front and was in third by lap 120. A couple of laps later, he was closing in on the leader running in second. He made a hard charge to the inside of turn two at lap 143, took the lead and pulled away finishing with a lead of .427- seconds over the second place car of Johnny Borneman.

“It was the best car I’ve ever had in my entire life,” Holmes said as he walked off the Douglas County Speedway. “The leader was blocking pretty good. He was doing what he had to do to keep the lead. I just had to wait for the right opportunity to get by him.”

This was the fifth win in last seven races at the 3/8th-mile speedway for the NAPA AUTO PARTS entry from BMR. Holmes is the fourth driver of the NAPA car to take home the coveted trophy and rifle from sponsor Bi-Mart.

The No. 20 NAPA team would like to thank their race partner, NAPA AUTO PARTS for their continued support. Several hundred NAPA store owners, employees and customers were on hand to cheer for their team at Oregon’s only NASCAR race event.

The next event on the schedule for the NASCAR Camping World Series West is at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash., on July 26. The race from Douglas County Speedway will be presented in an enhanced replay on SPEED Channel on July 24th. Check your local listings.
