BOISE, Idaho – Round three of the “Summer of Excitement Series” will take the Northwest Pro4 Alliance to the Wenatchee Valley Super Oval this weekend. Steve Thompson is currently atop the championship point standings, but this cagy veteran will have his hands full with fellow competitors Kameron McKeehan, Oregon’s Terry Rennick, Wayne Dillon, John Grosvenor, Rob Powers and Matt Melby.
The 2008 Impact Racing Rookie-of-the-Year challenge will see no less than nine contenders in the pits, led by Cody Stewart, Chris Celorie, Eric Kaas, Renny Marose, Todd VanDiest, Tom Plybon and Rob Golden.
An estimated field of 30 cars is expected to qualify, with the fastest 16 making the line-up for the 75-lap Main Event. Remaining qualifiers will have one more chance to make the 75-lapper by finishing in the top four positions in the “B” feature. It’s been several years since four-cylinder late model stock cars have competed at the Super Oval. Today’s Pro4 late models are quite different, and much faster, than the Super 4’s of years past. Sporting the appearance and speed of a V-8 powered late model, they definitely have the formula for competitive and exciting racing that you won’t want to miss!
