![]() WILTON, California – We are half way through the Flashco SRL schedule and the top three in championship points continue to be close. With only a 27 point differential from first place to third, this is still anyone’s championship! Jim Pettit in his #03 Top of the Hill Performance Ford continues to sit atop the SRL standings (207 points) but after the Independence Day weekend race at Altamont Motorsports Park, another veteran of the NASCAR Southwest Tour let Pettit know he wasn’t going to let him capture the SRL title without a battle. Craig Raudman who drives the #2 Performance Electrical Chevrolet for 2007 Championship owner Bob Strandwold, held off Pettit to gain his first victory of 2008 after 3 top 5 finishes to begin the schedule. Raudman sits just 16 points behind Pettit with 191 points. Right behind Raudman is Fremont’s Troy Ermish in his #38 Alfred Matthews Pontiac. After capturing a win in the first event of the SRL season at All American Speedway in Roseville, Ermish has finished in the top 10 each week and posted a strong 3rd place finish in the recent Altamont race to pull within 9 points of 2nd place Raudman. Rounding out the top 5 in championship points are Greg Voigt in the #4 Auto Pro Racing Engines Chevrolet with 164 points and coming off a strong rookie year in 2007, driving the Moeller Brothers #18 Chevrolet is Todd Bammer in 5th place with 150 points. Young Josh Combs out of Sacramento in his #7 Country Bear Ford remains on top in rookie points (129) but after some bad luck at Altamont with his right front tire going down, he has lost a bit of his lead. Madera’s Justin Westmoreland, who has shown flashes of his potential this year in the #9 3M Automotive Aftermarket Ford, is currently only 7 points behind (122) Combs after getting his first top 5 finish in an SRL car. Currently third in rookie points is Joe Farre’ with 102. Farre’ has been making the long haul the last couple of races to Altamont from his home base of Henderson, NV. Farre’ in his #54 Sigma Engineering Solutions Chevrolet has continued to show improvement this year as he logs more wheel time at each of the different tracks of the Flashco SRL Southwest Tour Series. Joe Farre’ is among the Flashco SRL drivers who are especially excited about the next event on the 2008 schedule. The series heads to Colorado National Speedway for their next race on August 16th where they will test their skills on the 3/8 mile oval against each other as well as some regional drivers from the Colorado area. Farre’ is not only excited about competing at this great track, he also has a head start on most of the other drivers on getting there living in Nevada.
