OBRIST AND MARSHALL WIN AT YAKIMA

ELLENSBURG, Washington – Dan Obrist from Portland, Oregon has made the long tow from his home town to Yakima every ASA Late model event the past two years and Saturday night the trip paid off with a win after also setting fast time. Obrist had a spirited battle with Mike Zamora to finally take over the lead late in the 50 lap race. Owen Riddle, defending late model champ, took over the point at the green. Riddle, stayed out front until lap 30 when Zamora moved around to take the lead, with Rich Peters and Obrist hard on his rear bumper. Zamora, who led the last event until lap 42, was able to lead this race until lap 49 when Obrist moved to the outside to score the win by a couple of feet. Ron Bemis had another strong run finishing in third.

Randy Marshall Jr. won his second main in a row in a crowd pleasing, close race in the Hobby Sportsman division. Marshall battled Jeff Stevenson the entire 25 laps as the two young racers put on a great show for the fans. Marshall finally showed his dominance on lap 21 to score the popular victory.

Tyson Richter added to his points lead with a victory in the Hobby class. The new pure stock type class is growing every week. Terry Cook won the Hornet division and Jacob Little was victorious in the Youth Hornets. The wild and crazy Bump to Pass class was won by Jason Trujillo.

The Friday night race that was scheduled for July 25, has been canceled. The next event will be August 9th.####
