COTO DE CAZA, California -- Austin Reed, driver of the #514 Ringers Gloves, (RBP) Rolling Big Power, Headblade.com, Approved Memory, Pimphats.com, FOX SHOX, theNfactorpics.com Modified Kart Toyota Tundra is competing in the popular CORR closed circuit off road series as it returns to Chula Vista for the this weekend.
The team, led by Crew Chief Shannon Weeks, hit the track a few weeks ago for the test session put on by CORR. Overall, they were pleased with the day as it provided the opportunity to figure out a few things that will ultimately give them a head start when they arrive for this weekend’s events. The diligent efforts of Shannon had both Austin and Kassidy Johnson’s trucks dialed-in for the day. Kassidy, has been behind the wheel of the #414 JR 2, Z Gallery, Greatshowers.com, Approved Memory, Latest Concepts and Designs Toyota Tundra Kart for several events now and looked equally impressive at testing. Austin shared, “We have done some testing over the last few weeks with the trucks at a fun exhibition race, so I have had some good seat time not to mention last Sunday I went to Victorville Speedway and tested a Mini Sprint car. We got hooked up with Brent Sexton through Twink and, after getting comfortable in the car, ran some really fast lap times. It was a great time and I gained a lot of confidence. Of course, running a car with 200 hp was a lot of fun. Trenton Briley backed by Kalgard came out and also ran some laps and we both were fast. I can't wait to get a chance to run again. I’m pretty excited now to go back and race in CORR at a fun track like Chula Vista. We have a lot of support in family and friends coming out to the race track to cheer me on. A lot of my Dad's friends from NASCAR racing are coming to the events to hang and check out the door to door action racing. I need to have a good run in both main event races Saturday and Sunday. I want to win but I have had some bad luck in a few races and need to make sure I race and finish upfront.”
Dave Reed said that he is looking at options to take Austin to the next level and while we are really having a great time racing Trophy Karts we are looking to move up in the near future. The Mini Sprint is an option, and they are also going to run some laps in a Legend car with good friend Ryan Reed and his Dad, Mark Reed. UTV's could be the next step in CORR and with the right backing maybe a Super Buggy.
