NAIMA LANG POWERS TO DOUBLE DIGIT POINT LEAD AT EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY

Naima Lang has finally taken a double-digit lead in the point battle for the prestigious NASCAR Whelen All American Series Track Championship in the Speedway Chevrolet Super Stock Division at Evergreen Speedway. Even after five main event wins and 8 heat race victories, Lang went into the Washington 500 last Saturday, with a single digit lead over Defending Champion John Zaretzke. After an early battle with Jason Frasier, Lang went on to dominate the race and won his sixth main event of 2008. Coming into the season he had yet to make it victory stage to claim even his first trophy for a main win! Talk about being on a roll. "The car is awesome and I've gotten better about understanding what the car is asking for," Lang says "understanding the new car and having Jessie Jensen with me has been key also".

Zaretzke, Mike Holden, Jeff Knight and James Mugge round out the top five in points. Holden and Mugge are still searching for their first wins, and look to be closing in on their goals soon. James Mugge stood beside Lang with his second place trophy after the Washington 500 race and Jeff Holden, currently 11th in points finished third. Jeff Holden badly needed a good finish after much adversity this season, and seemed genuinely happy to be on the stage.

This Coming Saturday is Les Schwab Tires Night at Evergreen. An added double feature night for Super Stocks should heat things up along with the World Championship Stinger Eight race. The Super Stocks will run twin 50 lap features, one at the start of the show and the other at the end. Lex Johnson has added purse money and teams will be allowed only four new tires for the evening. There will be no Super Stock heat races and all other heat races will be run after qualifying to accommodate the added main for the Super Stocks. Hornets and Crash Cars! round out the entertainment that is sure to be a spectacular August night at the speedway. Gates open at 5pm with racing action at 7pm.####
