POST FALLS, Idaho – Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring Champ Thane Alderman outran fast approaching challengers to win the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series 100-lap race at Stateline Speedway Saturday night. The race was the second part of the Duel for the 200 leading into Sunday’s running of the NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 200.

Alderman grabbed the lead from pole sitter Dylan Caldwell in the opening laps and quickly paced ahead of the field as fast cars worked their way to the front after the 20-car invert.

Cautions for spins and contact allowed fast time driver Dave Garber, sent to the rear of the field twice for involvement in spins, Tom Hill and Craig Bell to close the gap in the final laps.

A spin with four laps to go by dash winner Bobby Latham allowed Hill and Garber one last chance at Alderman on the restart but were unable to make a pass.

The win was Alderman’s first in the series. Hill finished second followed by Garber, Bell, Canada’s Darrel Midgley. Eleven cars finished on the lead lap.

Travis Monett won a dash. Garber, Andy Brown and John Dillon won heats.

Grabbing provisional’s by point standings for Sunday’s race are Garber, Bell, Hill, Alderman, Midgley and John Newhouse.

Those drivers join Kevin Richards, Agni Howell, Jim Wulfenstein, Shelby Thompson, Bodie Morton, and Mike Obrist with guaranteed starting spots in the Idaho 200.

The NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 200 concludes Sunday with the 9th running of the 200-lap event. Qualifying starts at 1pm with racing at 2pm.
