DAVID CARDEY WINS AT VICTORVILLE AUTO SPEEDWAY

On Saturday evening David Cardey made his first trip to the Victorville Auto Speedway with his iTi Performance Motorsports, Downing Performance Engines, and Empire Plumbing Sprinter. David had never driven a 410 car at Victorville before so what was about to happen would have come under the category of WOW.

David started out the evening by going out for his hot lap session only to have it cut short after one and one half laps by a two car wreck in turn four. Upon returning to the pits David was not able to give his car owner Glenn Crossno or crew Chief Lonnie Clabaugh much feedback about the car. They team decided to leave the car alone for the heat race and see what happens. David started the heat in the back of the group. He quickly moved forward into second place and set his sights on the leader. David spent two laps setting up his move. He went into turn one and drove by the leader on the bottom to take the lead. He then went on to win the heat and set his starting position for the main.

The field for the main was set by heat finishes and points. David started the main on inside of the forth row. When the green flag dropped David started his charge to the front. The pole sitter had checked out to a pretty good lead and was stretching it out pretty good. David moved through the field up to the second position and set his sights on the leader. The yellow came out for an accident in turn three and four which allowed the field to tighten up. On the restart David drove into turn one on the bottom and proceeded to put on a great slide job to take the lead. David was hard on the gas being chased by John Aden in the 12 car. David stayed out front to take the win.

David would like to thank iTi Performance Motorsports, Downing Performance Engines, Empire Plumbing, Racers Pub and his crew for making his first trip to Victorville one to remember. David is currently ninth in the USAC/CRA points not having run all of the races this year. David and his iTi Performance Motorsports/Downing Performance Engines team next race is August 16th at Santa Maria Speedway.####
