ROSEVILLE, California – Granite Bay’s John Moore extended his points lead in the All American Speedway Western Late Model points, as Golden State Racing had another successful weekend in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series-sanctioned action on Saturday night.
Moore scored an impressive second place finish in the feature action, after qualifying fast-time with a 13.875 lap around the asphalt one-third mile oval. Wilton, CA’s Laura Hayes timed in third and Sealy, TX’s Kristin Bumbera was sixth.
Moore took the lead from Glenn on lap 18 of the 50 lap feature, but lost it on lap 38 as the car began to suffer from tight handling.
Hayes ran as high as second before being shuffled back to fourth.
Bumbera had a good chance at a top-five effort thwarted by a lap six incident that eliminated her from contention.
Moore now leads the track standings by 23 points over rival Gary Glenn of Orangevale, with fellow Golden State Racing drivers Bumbera ranked fifth and Hayes is now seventh.
Hayes is just five points behind Bumbera in the ultra-tight standings. Bumbera trails fourth place Juan Pitta by 48 markers.
Moore remains second in the state standings and has leap frogged to 20th nationally.
A busy summer schedule continues for the talented Golden State Racing trio, who return to action on Saturday with 100 laps on tap.
