WILTON, California – For the second consecutive year the Flashco SRL Southwest Tour Series will travel to Colorado National Speedway for the August 16th “United Power/Touchstone Energy 150”. Many local area drivers will be joined by the SRL tour standouts, who will have traveled over 2,000 miles to compete in front of the large fan base of the beautiful mile high area.
Last year many of the local Colorado drivers did very well in the 150 lap SRL event including last year’s winner, Cris Muhler. Four-time Colorado National Speedway champion Bruce Yackey is looking forward to this opportunity to compete against the SRL. Yackey, who brings experience from both the Midwest and Southwest Tour had this to say about the August 16th race, “We love getting a chance to race with the SRL tour…it pushes us to step it up a notch as we get a chance to race some truly great drivers!”
Current SRL Championship leader Jim Pettit, who was last at Colorado National with the NASCAR Southwest Tour in 2006, shares Yackey’s excitement about this upcoming stop on the schedule. “There are a lot of great racers who compete regularly there at Colorado…many have Midwest and Southwest Tour experience…it will be great to see them again”, said Pettit. “This is going to be an exciting event for the SRL teams to compete in front of 8,000 great fans at Colorado National!” concluded Pettit.
Veteran tour car driver Darrel Lamoure of New River, AZ will be rejoining the Flashco SRL for this race which is close to his home turf. “I really enjoy the challenge of the track there at Colorado. The track changes quite a bit during the transition from day to night. Teams will have to be up for the challenge of making the right adjustments when setting up their cars for the main event”, said the veteran Lamoure.
“Last year’s race at Colorado National was a great success for both the SRL and the track”, said Steve Fensler, executive director of the SRL. “The crowd was the largest and most enthusiastic of any of our 2007 events.” added Fensler.
