King Taco Super Trucks

Conner Cantrell of Valencia held off a last lap challenge from rookie Rod Johnson Jr. of Canyon Country to win the King Taco Super Trucks 40 lap feature race Saturday night (August 16) at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale. Cantrell beat Johnson to the finish line by 0.186 seconds scoring his second consecutive victory and 5th in his last 7 races. Johnson’s finish was his highest ever in Super Trucks competition. Division points leader Pat Mintey Jr of Quartz Hill finished in third place.

Auto Club Late Models

Tim Huddleston of Agoura Hills held off the challenge of Nick Joanides of Woodland Hills during the final laps of the race holding on to win the NASCAR Auto Club Late Model 40 lap feature race Saturday night (August 16) at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale. Huddleston beat Joanides to the finish line by 0.104 seconds. The victory was Huddleston’s third of the season and moved him within two points of tying Joanides for the division points lead. Joanides finished in second place while Travis Irving of Long Beach finished in third place piloting a new California Highway Patrol sponsored 2008 Toyota Camry.

NASCAR Camping World Series West Race

Jason Bowles of Ontario, Calif. started from the pole position and went on to lead all 200 laps winning the Pipe Careers 200 Presented by Pipe Trades NASCAR Camping World Series West race Saturday night (August 16) at TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale. During the final laps Bowles opened up a commanding lead over second place finisher rookie Jeff Barkshire of Auburn, Wash. winning his second race in as many starts at TOYOTA Speedway. Bowles last win at the Speedway was on July 4 winning the California Highway Patrol 200. Rookie Jason Patison of Corona, Calif. finished in third place. Series points leader Eric Holmes of Escalon, Calif. finished in 8th place while Bowles is in second place in the standings.
