POST FALLS, Idaho – – Blaine Sneva sat on the front row and led all 93-laps of the first annual running of the Northwest Modifieds Doyle Braton Memorial Race at Stateline Speedway Saturday night. Drivers struggled to rein in setups and save equipment on blistering track conditions.

Sneva, winner of the fast heat, used clean race room at the front of the pack and lapped traffic late in the race to distance himself from competition. The race was only slowed twice for cautions.

On lap 73 second place contenders Frankie Volz and Rich Gimeno touched battling for position heading into turn two. The incident sent both drivers to the rear of the field. Tim Sawyer who set fast time gained second place but had to contend with lapped traffic to get to Sneva.

The win was Sneva’s second at the track this season. Sawyer finished second followed by Jeff Braton in third, who won the dash after a late event engine change.

Frank Volz Jr. won the fast dash. Shane Hasseltine won a heat plagued by multiple crashes and massive oil down.

2007 Northwest Pro 4 Nationals champ John Grosvenor set fast time for the FSCRA Pro 4’s, won the dash race and nearly won the main event. Grosvenor took the lead on a restart after lap 20 and looked to have the race won until six laps to go when his motor failed.

The mechanical woes handed the lead back to heat winner Kameron McKeehan who took the win in the 35-lap event. Local’s John Jackson and Travis Allen rounded out the top three. Renny Marose took forth followed by heat winner and early race leader Thomas Plybon.

Fast time driver Jim Jones or Arlington, Washington dominated the Vintage Modifieds stop at Stateline winning the 30-lap main for the group. Jones took the lead on lap eight and quickly distanced himself from second place finisher Kiel Hobbs. Heat winner Bobby Wheeler finished third. Bob Fulmer won the dash. The win is Jones’ forth in a row in the division.

For the first time in over twenty years the ASA-NSRA Northwest Sprint Car Series makes a return to Stateline Speedway. Speed records are expected to fall when the series’ sprint drivers qualify. Events start at 6pm. Admission is $20.

Street Stocks and Legends will also be part of the show.

The wild, wacky, unpredictable action of Wednesday Night Fever continues Wednesday at 6pm with the cars and superstars of the Road Runners, Fever 4’s, plus the wild and crazy Bump to Pass division. Adults are just $5.75; kids under the age of nine accompanied by adults are free.
