MOORESVILLE, Nc — Kyle Cattanach took home his first career top-ten in the NASCAR Camping World Series East, and second in the NASCAR Camping World Series, finishing ninth in the “A Journey for 9/11” #37 Chevrolet for Spraker Racing on Saturday.

Cattanach, the Redding, Calif. star now residing in Mooresville, NC, took advantage of a valuable opportunity to drive for one of the East’s premiere teams. Saturday’s race marked Cattanach’s fifth career effort in the Camping World Series.

Cattanach started the 150 lap race on the Mansfield Motorsports Park oval from the 18th position, after making waves with an impressive third place effort in practice.

The young star, with an 83% career top-ten average, adapted well to the track that he had never even set foot on until race day. “It’s a fast track like Altamont (where Cattanach recorded a fourth place finish last September),” Cattanach said. “But you have to drive it a lot differently.”

A tight handling race car saw Cattanach loose some speed in qualifying, however the driver and team stayed composed using three crucial pit stops early in the race to make adjustments to the A Journey For 911 and Pepper Jack Kennel’s sponsored car.

Remarkably, the car stayed on the lead lap with great pit stops while Cattanach was able to communicate valuable information to the crew.

The changes made their mark, and Cattanach charged all the way from 23rd to seventh position late in the race.

Cattanach was determined to make an impact and earn the respect of the East Series competitors, giving points contender Ricky Carmichael extra room late in the race.

“Ricky and I raced each other hard and clean all race so I gave him room on the green white checker finish,” Cattanach said. “He had a good car and beat me to the line for 8th position. After the race, we talked and he thanked me; it was a lot of fun racing him.”

At the line, Cattanach crossed the stripe in ninth place after a remarkable run.

A national television audience on HDNET witnessed Cattanach make firefighters and the foundation of “A Journey for 9/11” proud with his solid run.

Future plans are still to be announced for Kyle Cattanach. Sponsorship and marketing packages are available for the remaining 2008 and into the 2009 season. Information is available at Cattanach’s website.
