ZARETZKE PULLS TRIPLE WINS

SULTAN, Washington — John Zaretzke, driver of the Coleman Motorsports Zipfizz Chevrolet and the JZ Motorsports Team scored 3 wins over the duration of the Labor Day weekend. The first two occurred on Saturday during the 50 lap double header at Evergreen Speedway. The third win came on Sunday at South Sound Speedway. “The team put a great car under me for the entire weekend. It’s been a few years since we visited South Sound and the schedule gave us an opportunity to run there. We had a lot of fun!” said Zaretzke. The 3 wins over the weekend gives Zaretzke 5 consecutive wins and positive momentum heading into the final races of the 2008 season.

Zaretzke started the weekend off right with fast time in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Super Stocks at Evergreen Speedway. For the first main event, the invert put the Coleman Motorsports Chevrolet in the 11th starting position. Zaretzke made his way to the front and was leading by lap 19. He led the remainder of the race and finished 3 seconds ahead of second place. Race 2 placed the Zipfizz Chevrolet in the 8th starting position. Zaretzke avoided an early race incident and made his way to the front taking the lead on lap 14. He led the remaining laps of the caution filled event to take the second win of the evening earning the prized chainsaw carved wooden trophy. “I’ve raced at Evergreen Speedway many years and never been able to win the wooden trophy during the fair. This one will have a special place in the trophy case.” said Zaretzke. “The crew did a great job preparing the car this week. The car was perfect in both races. It actually got better as the race went on.”

“The team has worked hard and really come together over the past few weeks. We’ve discovered some things in the set up which we will continue to build on through the end of the year” said Lena and Frank Coleman.

With 2 races to go, Zaretzke is trailing points leader Naima Lang by 3 points for the season championship. “Every season, we start the season strong but finish the season with one issue or another, this year seems to be just the opposite. I’m looking forward to the challenge.” said John. Following the races on Saturday, the team headed back to the race shop to prepare the car for Sundays late model event in South Sound.

The team started Sunday where they left off on Saturday, qualifying first for the event. Due to the tire rule, Zaretzke was forced to start 11th in the 17 car field and work his way to the front. Zaretzke made it to the lead by lap 17 and held onto the point despite a relentless attack from Tom Sweatman. “We had a lot of fun racing here tonight. It’s good to go somewhere new once in a while to see how your stuff compares against the rest. Thanks to Nick and Butch (Behn) and South Sound Speedway for their hospitality.”

"The crew went back to the shop Saturday night and worked on the car until 1:30 a.m. and left early Sunday morning for South Sound. Getting the pole and winning the race was an unbelievable end to an incredible weekend of racing!” said Lena and Frank Coleman.
