RAY COOK RACKS UP WIN SEVEN ON THE SEASON; READIES FOR ELDORA

BRASSTOWN, North — Carolina -- The Ray Cook Racing team invaded the Volunteer State of Tennessee from August 29-30 for a pair of Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) events. Ray Cook was able to notch his seventh win of the 2008 racing season on Saturday night, August 30 at the Thunderhill Raceway in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. In his first-ever visit to Thunderhill, Ray qualified well and later outdueled Tony Knowles, Bub McCool, Anthony Burroughs, and Eric Hickerson in the $3,000 to win main event to reach victory lane!

A night earlier, the #53 team was in action at the Duck River Speedway in Wheel, Tennessee, as a $5,000 top prize was up for grabs. Unfortunately, a broken oil pump belt during the consolation race ended Ray's night prematurely. "Finally, our luck turned around on Saturday at Thunderhill," quoted Cook this week. "We have had all sorts of problems here and there over the past month, but we got some luck on Saturday. The only motor we had after Friday night was a big one that we were planning on using at Eldora. So, when that rain came at Thunderhill, that was exactly what we needed. It was a good race between myself and Tony (Knowles) and I really enjoyed my first trip to Thunderhill."

The #53 team now has their sights solely focused on the upcoming 'World 100' at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Qualifying for the "Granddaddy of Them All" will take place on Friday night, September 5. The heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lap, $41,000 to win main event are all scheduled for Saturday evening at the "Big E."
