RINGERS GLOVES RACING RECAP

Fresh off my trip from Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Oh., tonight will be spent doing laundry and re-packing for my journey to the Charlotte area for the Inaugural NHRA Carolina Nationals at the brand spankin’ new zMax Dragway, located on the grounds of Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Leading up to the World 100 weekend at Eldora, the inaugural Baltes Classic was held on Sunday, August 31. The race, formerly the Johnny Appleseed Classic, was renamed this season to honor the former owners and founders of Eldora Speedway, Earl and Berniece Baltes. Ringers’ supporting driver Billy Moyer added another Eldora win to his already impressive Eldora Speedway racing resume, taking home the trophy and cash on Sunday night.

Dirt late model racing has always been a huge staple in the Ringers Racing Family. We are pleased to recognize the 10 Ringers’ supporting drivers and teams who finished the World 100; Jeep VanWormer, third; Brian Shirley, sixth; Brian Birkhofer, seventh; Dale McDowell, eighth; Shannon Babb, 10th; Rick Eckert, 13th; Steve Francis, 14th; Donnie Moran, 15th; Billy Moyer, 21st and Darrell Lanigan, 27th.

Track owner Tony Stewart ventured up to Eldora Speedway on Friday night after the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race was postponed until Sunday.

Once the race got underway on Sunday, one Penske Racing team finished in the top-10 in the Chevy Rock ‘n Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway. Kurt Busch drove his No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge to a 10th-place finish on Sunday afternoon. His teammates Ryan Newman and Sam Hornish Jr., finished in the 33rd and 38th positions, respectively.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series visited Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Ill., for the Camping World 200 presented by Honda Power Equipment. Ringers’ supporter Brendan Gaughan started in the 30th position and was able to improve upon his starting position throughout the race, finishing in the 21st position.

Both the NASCAR Craftsman Truck and Sprint Cup Series will head to New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, N.H. for their respective races on the weekend.

The Firestone Indy Lights and IndyCar Series wrapped up their official seasons at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill.

The Ringers’ teams of Andretti Green Racing in the Indy Lights Series not only won the SunRichGourmet100.com race with the No. 26 Targus/AFS Racing entry (which it was the driver’s first career win) on Sunday, the No. 26’s teammate picked up the Firestone Indy Lights Championship in his No. 27 AFS Racing/Andretti Green Racing Dallara, with a third place finish.

Later on Sunday, the Andretti Green Racing teams competed in the PEAK Antifreeze and Motor Oil 300. The No. 11 Team 7-Eleven entry led the trio to the finish line in the fourth place, with the No. 26 NYSE entry finishing in the eighth spot. The No. 27 Formula Dream entry exited the race early and finished 22nd, but picked up the Bombardier Rookie of the Year Award for the 2008 season.

Congratulations to the Andretti Green Racing teams on a great 2008 season!
