TRUMANN, Ar — A year ago Kyle Beard piloted his #86 GRT By Frye/Samuels Performance Racing Engine Super Late Model to the biggest win of his young career as he picked up the $5,000 payday by winning the 1st Annual Midsouth Dirt Track Championship at Poinsett County Raceway. This weekend he will return to the scene of the crime.
Over the past two months, Beard Motorsports has kicked their season into high gear with several wins and top five finishes. His two most recent wins came in O’Reilly MSRA action at his home track, Poinsett County Raceway in Harrisburg, Arkansas.
This Friday and Saturday, Beard will return to PCS for the 2nd Annual Midsouth Dirt Track Championship, which will be sanctioned by the O’Reilly MSRA and pays $5,000 to win and $400 to start for the 40 lap event. The weekend gets underway on Friday night with double heat races. The lineup for the first set of heat races will be determined by the pill draw. The second set of heat races will see the lineup from the first set of heat races completely inverted. The top 12 drivers, who earn the most passing points, between the two sets of heat races lock into Saturday night’s main event. The balance of the field will compete in b-mains on Saturday night to set the starting grid for the main event. Heading into the weekend, Kyle is currently fifth in the O’Reilly MSRA standings, and leads the COMP Cams Winner’s Circle Bonus with three feature wins on the season. Last Saturday, Beard Motorsports traveled to Tri State Speedway in Pocola, Oklahoma for a $2,000 to win event that was co-sanctioned by the O'Reilly MSRA and the Allstate DLRA Super Late Model tours. Early in his heat race, the powerplant in Kyle Beard's #86 GRT By Frye experienced some minor problems forcing him pitside. In an effort not to risk further damage to the primary engine, the crew thrashed to get the backup motor in the car for the 35 lap feature event. Kyle started 21st on the starting grid and when the green flag dropped he began an impressive march to the front of the field. With only two cautions to bunch the field, Beard passed 16 cars on the large, clay oval to charge to a 5th place finish. For his efforts he earned the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award.
