YAKIMA SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES ADDED PURSE AND  REGISTRATION FOR 21ST ANNUAL FALL CLASSIC

ELLENSBURG, Washington — The 21st. annual Fall Classic at Yakima Speedway is set for October 3-4-5, 2008. Ted Pollock, owner of the American Speed Association sanctioned Yakima Speedway, announced today the added purse for the Fall Classic. In addition to the $10,000.00 to win the 200 - lap event, if you are a first time winner, the Speedway will put up an additional $1000.00. Plus, if the first or second fastest qualifiers start at the back of the pack in the late model event and win, they will receive $2,000.00 more. The good news does not stop there. Pollock has announced additional prize money for first time winners in all classes. A first time winner in the Limited late model race will receive an additional $750.00 to the $6,000.00 prize. First time winners in the Street Stocks and Hobby mains will be paid an additional $500.00 and $250.00 respectively. Returning annual sponsors for this years race are Bud Clary Toyota and CWI Security.

The huge, Northwest season ending event, always brings out the best the Northwest has to offer. Pre-registration is at a brisk pace. To receive the discount on entry fees, racers and car owners are reminded to have the forms sent in and post marked no later than September 17th.

Erick Hargraves, the 2007 winner was one of the first to enter to defend his title. Gary Lewis, who came within a few laps of winning everything last year, will return to try to dethrone Hargraves. Stiff competition will be the order of the day. Expected entrants read like a whose who of the best Late Model drives in the nation. Garrett Evans, Pete and Shane Harding, Mark Owens, Travis Bennett">Travis Bennett, B.J. Tidrick, Mike Longton, Jason Fraser, John Zaretke, Dan and Mike Obrist, Rick Suran, Tom Sweatman, Naima Lang, Darren Stordahl, Shelby Thompson, Ken Olson, J.J Hamilton, Jason Jefferson, Mark Sunburg, Chris Hart, Brad Stanwood, Dave Garber and many others have expressed an interest or have pre-entered.

Tech officials also want to continue to advise the competitors about the noise rule and exhaust size rules in effect at all Yakima speedway envents. Also a reminder that small clutches and direct couplings are not allowed in the Hobby division. Small clutches etc. are not the norm in any Hobby division in the Northwest. Also, as in the past couple of seasons, Tour engines will be allowed in the Limited late model division. Any Tour engine, in the limited race, will be required to run a non - modified 390 carb and use the restrictor plate. Officials note that the above changes are not listed in the printed rules or listed on the speedway site, but will be in effect.
