BOBBY GREWOHL WINS TWO-FOR-TWO IN MIDGETS

Californian pilot Bobby Grewohl, driving for the DMS Race Products squad, scored another victory this past Saturday evening, making him two wins in two Midget races for 2008. Racing in a combined race that included the Bay Cities Race Association (BCRA) and Washington Midget Racing Association (WMRA), Grewohl qualified fourth and won the trophy dash on his way to winning the main event.

With The Pop Porter Memorial taking place at the Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, California, Grewohl, a former multi time karting champion, turned the fourth quickest time in qualifying out of the 21 car field that included several top drivers from the United States Auto Club (USAC).

After qualifying fourth, the Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle development driver was entered in the Trophy Dash event where he drove to a solid victory. Looking to stay sharp and continue his momentum, Grewohl was looking forward to the main event.

“We started going in a certain direction for qualifying on car setup,” explained DMS’ Marc De Beaumont. “After qualifying we made some changes to go the other direction because we did not feel we had a car to win. After the Trophy Dash we fine tuned our setup and the car looked amazing.”

“The Trophy Dash really helped us for our race setup,” explained Grewohl. “We put on a new set of tires and really worked on the car. The air temperature was very hot during the day and we knew that the track would get a lot of grip for the final when the sun went down. We worked on freeing the car up for the main event and we hit the setup perfectly.”

At the drop of the green flag, the talented shoe and 2003 Formula Ford Western States Champion, took the lead and never looked back. Turning fast and consistent race laps, Bobby led every lap as he took the checkered flag and victory at Shasta Raceway Park.

"Bobby Grewohl is simply an amazing talent,” stated Ron Sutton. “He has only run two midget races this year ... for two different car owners in very different cars ... and won them both."

Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle other driver Victor Sinzig was also in attendance and joined Grewohl on the podium. After qualifying seventh, Sinzig progressed forward throughout the main event to finish third.

Bobby would like to thank everyone who has made the 2008 racing season possible: DMS Race Products, Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle as well as his parents John and Lucy Grewohl.
