DILLON, Sc — Race fans and race teams returned to ASA-sanctioned, Dillon Motor Speedway last Saturday recharged and ready for excitement during Herald Office Systems Night. Racing was canceled the weekend prior due to the threat of inclement weather from Tropical Storm Hanna.
Herald Office Systems Night featured local race teams from Missy’s Four-Cylinders, the NAPA Street Stocks, Palmetto Auto Auction Chargers, and the Seneca Super Trucks. As an added bonus for race fans, office supplies from Herald Office Systems were distributed through random games and competitions throughout the evening.
A special entertainment event was also initiated into ASA-sanctioned, Dillon Motor Speedway as yet another crazy fan-participation game. The “Mother-in-Law” race consisted of a car provided by DMS that was driven around the track by a blind-folded fan. This individual was directed as to how to drive by his/her mother-in-law who sat along for the ride in the back seat of the car. This competition was indeed a treat. There were four entries. However, the competition was cut short after the second set of contestants crashed the vehicle. Apparently, the driver did not take orders very well from his mother-in-law.
Racing began as exciting as ever with the fast and furious drivers from Missy’s Four-Cylinder division. #84 Bailey Miles was the leader of the pack as he sped his way to yet another victory at ASA-sanctioned, Dillon Motor Speedway last Saturday. Congratulations, Bailey. Mike Stafford also battled his way to the front to finish in a close second place. Brian Owens raced strongly to end his night in third place. Toby Milligan and Trey Cutler also fought to the finish to take home fourth and fifth place respectively.
The tough competitors from the NAPA Street Stock division were next to take laps around the track and what a thrilling race. Chris Peele of B&C Motorsports was so hot that he was on fire after taking his second checkered flag win in a row. However, don’t count out the rowdy, Randy Hall, who finished nearly a bumper away in second place. Barry “The Rabbit Man” Flowers also put forth a charging effort to cross the finish line in a close third place. Steve Evans and Mike Caddell cruised to strong finishes by rounding out the “top five.”
Next, the Palmetto Auto Auction Chargers orbited the track with rapid speed. Kent Harper soared ahead to the front of the pack yet again to win another race at ASA-sanctioned, Dillon Motor Speedway. Bobby June in his #13 car applied pressure to his competitors with many fierce maneuvers to gain his second place finish. Ricky Locklair returned to DMS to rocket to a third place finish. Marty Dean raced to a solid finish in fourth place, followed by Jason Clark who brought the #33 car home in fifth place.
The Seneca Super Trucks provided Saturday night’s feature racing event with bumper-to-bumper racing and an exciting finish with a new winner. In fact, fans were out of their seats for the last few laps of the race, so they would not miss any of the action. After an exciting three lap shoot-out between Archie Adams, Jr. and Hal Goodson, a new Seneca Super Truck winner emerged. Archie Adams, Jr., sky-rocketed around ASA-sanctioned, Dillon Motor Speedway to capture the Herald Office Systems 200 checkered flag. Congratulations, Archie. Also, Hal Goodson should be commended for his spirited attempt which landed him a close second place finish. Justin Hicks and Garrett Tubbs had competitive trucks finishing in solid third and fourth places. Jamie Turner returned from Labor Day’s event to finish as a “top five” competitor.
