(February 5, 2001) “What a Great way to start the season off!” exclaimed and exhausted Austin Cameron, after finishing third at this weekends “Winter Heat” race in Phoenix Az. “There is no better way to start off a season, than on the podium!”

“I tell you what, I owe a lot to my guys. On the last stop we took on two tires and they (the team) had a great stop. That’s what kept us up front for the finish.” Cameron ran strong the entire race never falling out of the top 10 positions and maintained a steady race all day through. “Man am I glad that this one is over, I was feeling sick as a dog all weekend, but this finish really made me feel better.” “We had a really good race car all weekend. We qualified 7th and ran in the top ten I think for most of the race.” “We had some great help from Eddie Sharp this weekend and I think that made a big difference for everyone on the team. The guys did a great job all weekend and I can’t thank them enough!” 2nd place finisher Eric Norris on Austin Cameron, “I was more worried about Austin behind me, than Kenny (Shrader) in front of me.” Winston Cup driver Kenny Schrader joined in the fun of “Winter Heat” bringing some tough competition for the West Series Drivers.

Cameron started the race from the 7th position after a long weekend of battleing the flu and finished on the podium in 3rd. The team brought in chassis specialist Eddie Sharp, of Sharp Racing, to help them better organize their trackside operation, as well as to assist in chassis setup and race day tactics. Cameron and his AC Motorsports team will now prepare for the upcoming race at the new “Las Vegas Bullring” a 3/8 mile short oval at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The race will take place Wednesday night February 28th.
