EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY FEATURING NASCAR ALL AMERICAN RACING

Saturday’s schedule of events for the “Dino Rossi for Governor Northwest Big Track Championship Night” has been posted on the tracks website and now the anticipation builds for drivers and their respective teams. In the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Speedway Chevrolet Super Stock division, Naima Lang continues to hold on to a slim 6 point margin over defending champion John Zaretzke. The Lang Autosports Dodge of Lang has visited victory stage 8 times this season leading all competitors in number of wins. He was also one of three first time winners in the division this year that so far has seen seven different winners among thirty three drivers who have accumulated points in 2008. His recent win on the big track securing the NASCAR Washington State Championship has gotten Lang back on track after several weeks of watching Zaretzke dominate in the class.

Zaretzke had won 4 races in a row coming into the first big track race and had opportunities to win with Evergreen’s double file restart rule. However, Lang showed the moxie and after fending off Zaretzke and finally Jason Frasier as well, claimed the NASCAR Washington State Title. The title comes with a $2000.00 cash bonus and a seat at the National NASACR Champions Banquet in Las Vegas. This brought Lang’s winnings that night to well over $3,000.00.

Next up for the class is the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Track Championship. Another big track race scheduled for 125 laps, this one has, in addition to the purse, another $10,000.00 in season contingency monies up for grabs. With $3,000.00 for the top finisher the NASCAR contingency program spreads another $7,000.00 among the remaining top 10 points contenders.

The Dino Rossi for Governor Campaign has been involved all season long at the speedway, starting with the Mike Holden car (currently 5th in points) and culminating with the expanded sponsorship of the Big Track Championship Night this weekend. Showing support to the local race fans and teams, Dino Rossi has expressed a great deal of excitement being involved at the speedway.

The ASA Aero Exhaust Northwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power will be crowning their champion as well for 2008. The scheduled 100 lap main event will host some well known names in the northwest including a visit from Garrett Evans and Ron Eaton, both longtime Tour drivers and very familiar with Evergreen’s famed .646 mile oval.

All that is needed for Brad Stanwood (Portland, OR) to win his first championship on the Tour is to take the green flag for the start of the 125-lap main. Stanwood, making every race this season, will also be the rookie of the year. His name will stand along with many of the greats in the northwest that have won NWT championships.
