ANDERSEN RACING SEALS UP  2008 STAR MAZDA TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

PALMETTO, Florida — It's official; Andersen Racing is the top team in the Star Mazda Championship Series presented by Goodyear.

Series officials have confirmed that the Palmetto, Fla.-based team sealed up the 2008 team championship with Peter Dempsey's victory at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, N.J. on Sept. 14.

The team's performance this year was so dominant that it won the championship even though two more races remain on the schedule: Oct. 3 at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga. and Oct. 18 at Laguna Seca">Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif.

The driver title will come down to the season finale. Dempsey, of Ashbourne, County Meath, Ireland, leads the current driver point standings. Two other Andersen Racing drivers, Charles Hall of Sheffield, England and Tom Gladdis of the Isle of Wight and Gibraltar, could also win it. The best 11 of each driver's 12 results are totaled to determine the final driver point standings.

Andersen Racing drivers have won six of the 10 races run so far this year.

Dempsey has four victories, while Hall and Gladdis have each won once.

Andersen Racing, which is sponsored by Allied Building Products Corp., offers a unique, three-step program for future open-wheel stars. In addition to Star Mazda, it fields multiple entries in the F2000 Championship Series and the Firestone Indy Lights Series.

Andersen Racing has also already sewed up the F2000 team championship, and one of its F2000 drivers, rookie Anders Krohn of Sandnes, Norway, is the 2008 F2000 champion. The team is the official Van Diemen factory team in that series.

Andersen Racing is also the official development team of Rahal Letterman Racing. It finished sixth in the Firestone Indy Lights Series' entrant standings for 2008, with J.R. Hildebrand placing fifth in that series' driver point standings in his rookie season.

The team is owned by two brothers from New Jersey: Dan and John Andersen. It is managed by a woman in her thirties: Michelle Kish of Palmetto, Fla.
