WARN SURVIVES ALTAMONT ACTION ON LEAD LAP

AURORA, Oregon — Jim Warn finished 12th this past Saturday night at Altamont Raceway Park in NASCAR Camping World Series action that was more about survival than racing. Warn dodged rocks, spinning race cars and 200-laps to be running at the end of the race.

Warn qualified a disappointing 23rd out of 34 cars entered in the race. The starting position would again test the Sunoco rookie as he would need patience, luck, and skill to navigate the field. Patience and skill were certainly on his side.

The Golden State Steel & Stair "200" was split into two 100-lap segments giving the teams an opportunity to make adjustments during a ten minute "halfway" break. For some the adjustments what just what the doctor ordered, for Warn he may have needed another prescription.

"No one can say this series is easy," Warn stated. "Our car worked pretty good all night but the leaders were really good. I am very happy for the team and all of their work for this race and all season. We were just not able to drive the car into the corner like we needed and that was the difference at Altamont."

Though his 12th place was not what Warn wanted he is happy with the result. "I am very proud of my MJ2 Racing Team," Warn said. "We finished better than we started and we completed all the laps. The next big jump for us as a team is to finish in the top ten consistently and lead some laps."

Warn maintains the tenth position in the overall standings with one race remaining on the 2008 schedule. The NCWS next heads to Roseville, Ca and All-American Speedway October 25 to finish the season where it all began.
