KANSAS SPEEDWAY: With five starts in the Nationwide Series at Kansas Speedway, Kevin Harvick has one win, three top-five and three top-10 finishes. Harvick has led 28 laps and completed 876 of 1000 laps attempted. In his last four starts, Harvick has completed 100 percent of laps attempted (800 of 800 laps).
LOOKING FOR WIN N0. 2: Harvick could become the first two-time winner in the Nationwide Series at Kansas Speedway since the series began racing at the track in 2001.
ONE, TWO: The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series ran at Kansas Speedway on April 26 and the day proved to be a huge success for KHI and it’s drivers Ron Hornaday, driver of the No. 33 Chevy Silverado, and Jack Sprague, driver of the No. 2 Chevy Silverado. Hornaday earned his first career Truck Series win at the track and KHI scored its first one, two finish in the Truck Series as Sprague followed Hornaday to the finish line taking the checkered flag from the second position.
CHASE FOR THE CUP: Following a sixth-place finish at Dover International Speedway, Harvick and the No. 29 Cup Series team now sit fifth in the points standings. Teams now head to Kansas Speedway for round three of the Chase for the 2008 Sprint Cup Series Championship with Harvick 101 points behind leader Carl Edwards.
BEFORE THE RACE: QUOTES WITH DRIVER KEVIN HARVICK:
Will your race notes from Chicago help you this weekend in Kansas? “The two race tracks are similar so I am sure the guys will have a similar setup. I’m sure we’ll look back over our notes from Chicagoland and our notes from last year at Kansas. Our program here at KHI has stepped up on the mile-and-a-half and two-mile tracks, so hopefully the trend will continue this weekend in Kansas. I think for us as a team, the mile-and-a-half tracks like Texas and Atlanta have been good so far this year. I look forward to driving the No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet at Kansas Speedway this weekend."
CHASSIS HISTORY: This week the Camping World team will unload chassis No. 042 from the KHI stables. Earlier this season at Lowe’s (N.C.) Motor Speedway, this chassis was scheduled to make its race debut, but following a wreck during qualifying, the team was forced to unload the back-up car for the race. The only other track appearance this chassis has made this year was for testing in early May at Lowe’s (N.C.) Motor Speedway with Harvick.
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: The Nationwide Series last appeared at the Monster Mile one-mile oval of Dover (Del.) International Speedway. Harvick started the Camping World RV Sales 200 from the sixth position and quickly claimed his place in the top five. Continuing to run fast laps, Harvick faced tight-handling conditions as the race continued. The Camping World team made adjustments on each stop and maintained their position. Unfortunately, while in the third position on lap 130, Harvick radioed the team that he had no brakes and took the No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet to the garage for repairs. Returning to the race 44 laps down to the leaders, Harvick crossed the finish line in the 28th position.
