LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Saturday Night's November 1 USAC Western Midget Car Series event at The Bullring @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be one of four National Midget Driver of the Year Nights held nationwide with various midget auto racing sanctioning organizations this season.
Competitors will receive additional purse money for the evenings race events from Chevrolet, and Ford Racing. Weiland Racing Enterprises will also award product certificates.
The K & N Cup National Midget Driver of the Year Championship trophy will be also be on display at the event. Chevrolet, and Ford Racing sponsors of the championship which determines midget auto racing's top driver each year based on all events run nationwide will also be providing fans giveaways to lucky fans throughout the evening.
The race will be the 218th race of the season for the NMDOTY Championship, with Tracy Hines currently leading the points. Hines will not be competing at the event allowing several drivers chasing him to possibly close on his point advantage. Current USAC Western Midget Car Series point leaders Nic Faas and Western Speed Racing can clinch the series championship at the event. Several drivers and teams from the Midwest are excepted to compete in the event.
The event will also feature the SMRA Supermodifieds and the SRL Southwest Late Model Series. Gates open at 5:00 pm, followed by practice and qualifying with racing beginning at 7:00 pm sharp. It will mark the first midget auto race at the facility since Oct. 16, 2004, when Rory Price bested Tony Hunt and Jerome Rodela.
