MOORPARK, California — Just a couple days under the two-week mark until the start of the Full Throttle NHRA Drag Racing Series in Pomona, Calif. I’ve enjoyed the past couple days in sunny California weather…a change from the chilly Indianapolis weather we’ve been having.
During my short trip to California, I got to be an impromptu houseguest of Todd and Leah Leduc, a couple of Ringers’ racers and friends. Todd is an off-road racer and Leah is a nostalgia Funny Car racer; she also has her NHRA Funny Car license and earned that last year. Here next month they will celebrate their first anniversary as husband and wife.
I’m going to keep this minute short this week. My allergies have been wreaking havoc on me today, but not before I say Sammy Swindell won the 23rd annual Chili Bowl midget race in Tulsa, Okla., over the weekend. This was Swindell’s first Chili Bowl victory in 11 years. Newly named Penske Racing driver and Ringers’ supporter Justin Allgaier finished 21st in the A Feature.
Ringers Gloves would also like to wish Tim McCreadie a speedy recovery. McCreadie was injured during his qualifying night and suffered a fractured T3 vertebra. McCreadie doesn’t have insurance and a fund has been set up for him through the United States Auto Club (USAC).
