Brian Ickler had what many witnessed as a dominating performance for almost 2/3rds of the
2009 Camping World Series Toyota Allstar Showdown. Ickler led 100 of the first 143 laps
until being pushed up into the turn 4 wall by NASCAR Veteran and 3 time Camping World
Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday. "We were leading the race when Hornaday ran his car
hard into turn 3 and hit me coming out of 4, which ended my day", said Ickler. "It's
unfortunate, we had a strong car, qualified 3rd, and were able to have a lot of hard,
clean, side by side racing with both Trevor Bayne and Eric Holmes."
Ickler ended up being the lap leader for the race. Camping World East Series Champion
Matt Kobyluck was awarded the win when Nextel Cup Driver, Joey Logano was penalized for
rough driving on the final lap in a collision with race leader Peyton Sellers.
Ickler recorded 3 wins, 2 poles and 1 track record in the 2008 NASCAR Camping World East
Series. Ickler was the East Series Lap leader with 452 laps led (of 1749 total laps)
for a 26% percentage. In 2 seasons (2007, 2008) Ickler has a total of 6 wins, 5 fast
times, and 2 track records. Ickler is credited as one of two drivers, along with Chuck
Bown, to have multiple wins in both the East and West Series.
