Marlyn Seidler passed Mark Stewart with 10 laps to go and never looked back to take the IMCA Modified main event Saturday night at Canyon Speedway Park. The North Dakota racer took his second main event win of 2009 at the Peoria oval track. Bo Hatfield followed Stewart across the line with Guy Norton and Tim Ward rounding out the top five. A great opening night crowd was very appreciative of Seidler’s remarks in victory lane about returning for the next race in two weeks.
The Sport Mod main event was won by Darin Center in a dominating win over second place Cody Center.
The ASCA 360 Sprint Car main event was won by Josh Pelkey who was followed across the line by Nathan High and Michael Colegrove. Young Brendan Higgins and veteran John Brinkley were both unhurt in separate but similar barrel roll type crashes. Higgins flipped his car in turn one while Brinkley did a series of snap rolls in turn three during the main event.
Kiley Fellars took home the AMMA Modified Midget main event over 2008 AMMA Champion Dalton Gabbard.
Racing will continue March 14th as the ASCA 360 Sprint Cars, the IMCA Modifieds, the Pure Stocks, AMMA Modified Midgets and Southwest Modlites make up the second regular season race of 2009. Start time will be 7:30 pm.
