Following a highly successful night at the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway back on February 28th, After Hours Racing, and their drivers "Awesome" Austin Murphy and Broc "Bam Bam" Murphy, are seriously looking at a potential championship and rookie of the year title in the Colorado River Late Model Racing Series. This special championship series is being jointly presented by the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway, in Blythe-California, and the Havasu 95 Speedway, in Lake Havasu City-Arizona.

When Austin Murphy arrived at the Lucas Oil10 Speedway last Saturday night he was leading the series' points standings and held an 18 point advantage over Mark Schriner his season long competitor for the championship. The late models were running twin 25 lap main events on this evening. Murphy began the evening on a strong note by setting the fast time during qualifying. The two lap run marked his sixth series fast time.

The first 25 lap feature ran caution free with Schriner leading Murphy underneath the checkers. It was Schriner's third feature win of the season and it helped him lower Murphy's series lead to 16 points. However the second 25 lap feature was a complete reversal of fortune. In this race Murphy led Schriner under the checkers and returned his lead to 18 points. The race marked Murphy's second feature win of the year.

Meanwhile Broc Murphy was busy making progress towards winning the series' rookie of the year title. The younger of the Murphy brothers finished fifth in the first feature and sixth in the second one. His performance in the first feature earned him his third top five finish of the season.

After Hours Racing's two late models are now sitting in the family owned shop, in Lancaster, and the process of prepping the cars for the final three events, led by family patriarch and crew chief Jeff Murphy, is underway. The team returns to action on March 15th at the Havasu 95 Speedway followed by a return race at the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway on March 21st. The series is scheduled to reach its grand conclusion on the April 11th championship night in Lake Havasu City.

After Hours Racing is well aware that they cannot be resting on their laurels. They're well aware that anything can happen during the course of a stock car race and an 18 point lead can be eradicated as fast as it was created just by one night of bad racing luck.

However you can fully expect that After Hours Racing will be well prepped and ready to launch a campaign to win the Colorado River Late Model Series championship as well as the rookie of the year title. You can also expect that a minimum 110 percent effort will be the foundation of achieving that goal. Simply put: that's how they roll.
