LAS VEGAS, Nev. (February 28, 2001) - Officials for the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing and Las Vegas Motor Speedway have postponed the NAPA 300, NASCAR Winston West Series event, scheduled for Wednesday, February 28th at the ‘Bullring’ at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway. The event will be run on Thursday, March 1st as a prelude to the NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Winston Cup Series events at the 1.5-mile Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway. The 300-lap event is scheduled for a green flag at 7:30pm on the .375-mile Thursday with gates opening at 8:OO AM and NASCAR Winston West Series Bud Pole Qualifying at 12:OOpm.
NASCAR Winston Cup Series driver and 2001 Daytona 500 champion, Michael Waltrip and NASCAR Winston Cup Series competitor, Ron Hornaday are scheduled to compete in the 300-lap event along with the competitors from the NASCAR Winston West Series including 2000 series champion, Brendan Gaughan.
The NASCAR Winston West Series is one of nine NASCAR Touring Series that blanket the United States. NASCAR Touring brings special events to many NASCAR Weekly Racing Series tracks and some NASCAR superspeedways and road courses. NASCAR Touring Series can provide a competitor with an antire career, or they can provide valuable experience to competitors moving through the NASCAR ranks.
