LANCASTER, California — The PCM Motorsports Inc. Late Model cars are off to a good start this season. Driver Miles “Pistonhead” Copenhaver has been working on his racing skills by competing in some preseason races at Tucson Speedway, Havasu 95 Speedway and the I-10 Speedway. The race at Tucson Speedway went fairly well, Miles ran in the top five all night but a late caution put the race into extra laps (115 laps) and the team ran out of fuel. The Havasu 95 Speedway results were much better by a second place finish in the first dash, only losing by a nose, but made up for it by winning the second dash race. Plus Miles has recorded two Main event wins there. You can see Miles’ dash win at www.pcmmotorsports.com/miles then click on photos section at top of page. Miles continued to do well while running at the I-10 Speedway in Blythe, CA with two 3rd place finishes. Then on March 21st, Miles debuted his Super Late Model race car at the Irwindale Toyota Speedway with an older car from fellow racer Justin Lofton. Justin Lofton is racing ARCA and NASCAR on the east coast right now but may come out to run a few races with the PCM Motorsport Late Model team later this year at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.

Miles Copenhaver’s driving coach Ron Esau got a chance to run one of the PCM Late models on March 15th at Havasu 95 Speedway. It was Ron’s 33rd wedding anniversary weekend but it didn’t give much luck to Ron because he got a flat tire with 10 laps to go while running in fourth place. Overall the car was running very well and Ron really enjoyed the feel to be back at a 3/8 mile race track. Fortunately Ron is lucky to have a very understanding wife, Marsha Esau, to let him race out of town that weekend. But things aren’t done there, Ron is also working on driving in a few races with the PCM Motorsports late model rental car.

PCM motorsports and Miles Copenhaver are really looking forward to kicking off the Late Model Season at the Toyota Speedway with great competition from all over the country. Miles Copenhaver, Brett Copenhaver (Miles’ spotter and brother) and Ron Esau are planning a trip to North Carolina later this summer to visit Justin Lofton, and fellow NASCAR Driver Brian Ickler. In the past, both Justin Lofton and Brian Ickler ran Late Models and Super Late Models at Toyota Speedway with Paul Copenhaver running the team. Ron Esau says ‘’The Copenhaver Family are fun to work with, but serious about helping drivers make it to the big leagues in NASCAR”. To note, Miles would like to thank all of his sponsors that make this racing season possible; Ron’s Rear End, PCM Motorsports, Apache Rentals, Eibach Spring, BCRI, Rapid Ron Racing, Inc., Tubbs Vinyl, Bill Loe Racing Engines, 10,000 RPM Clutches, WUI, www.racinaround.com.
