
Manteca’s Marco DeGeorge toppled a stellar BCRA Midget field on Saturday evening, March 28th at the beautiful 3/8-mile Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, Ca, wheeling the #78 Mark DeGeorge Beast/Esslinger, earning his third career BCRA feature victory.
Following the BCRA sophomore DeGeorge checkers was reigning BCRA champion “Young Lion” Nick Foster, Jr. aboard Jim Fowler’s #1 Zero-Zero Motorsports Beast/Gaerte, Sacramento's Ralphie “The Racer” Cortez aboard the #31 Shores-Cortez Beast/Sesco-Mopar, fast-timer David Prickett aboard the #15 Neverlift Motorsports Hawk/Van Dyne and Danny Parker aboard the Roza Motorsports #20 Team F.A.S.T. (Fighting Against Steroids Together) Beast/Esslinger.
Following the Lead five to the checkers was former BCRA car owner champion Bill Lindsey aboard Stu Donaldon’s #8x Stealth/Pontiac and Vacaville’s Rick Holbrook, making his first-ever Midget start aboard Parker’s #38 Stewart/Esslinger rounding out the finishing order.
Midget newcomer Alex Shutte, of Redding, brought out the first caution of the 30-lap feature on Lap 11 aboard Corey Kruseman’s #12k Beast/Esslinger, exiting with mechanical woes.
Just one lap later, 17-year-old BCRA sophomore Kyle Dickerson spun the Harold Dickerson #11k Beast/Ed Pink Ford on Lap 12, collecting Shasta Raceway Park modified champion Guy Young aboard Rick Faeth’s SRP #3 Stealth/Chevy V4, dropping both from the field.
Former Midget Lite chauffer and 2008 BCRA Midget pavement champion and Rookie-of-the-Year “Nitro” Nick Chivello took the winner’s laurels in the “A” Trophy Dash aboard Daniel Chivello’s #27b Beast/Esslinger over Prickett, Schutte and Foster.
Cortez claimed the “B-Dash” over Parker, Lindsey and Holbrook.
Fresno’s David “Love Cricket” Prickett outpaced the stellar field of BCRA Midgets in qualifying, setting fast time at 15.085, his first career fast-time.
DeGeorge claimed Heat 1 over Parker, Cortez, Lindsey and Holbrook.
Foster claimed Heat 2 over Chivello, Schutte, Young and Prickett.
7-time BCRA champion “Ageless Wonder” Floyd Alvis scratched after hot laps in his #18 Champion Automotive Stealth/Van Dyne after experiencing oil pump issues.
The BCRA Midget Series continues on Saturday, April 4 at the speedy 1/3-mile Madera Speedway, then ventures to dirt, powering into the Sierra Nevada foothills for the first of three races at John Padjen’s beautiful ¼-mile Placerville Speedway at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds on April 11th.
