THE BULLRING AT VEGAS WAS A FIGHT TO THE END

(March 5, 2001) After a late race caution brought out the yellow flag and a single file restart (at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway) with only 2 to go, Austin Cameron and his AC Motorsports team brought the #12 Chevrolet Monte Carlo home in Fourth place after a long night of side by side, bumping and rubbing, short track racing.

Austin on the race - “We had a quick car out here, and it ran well all day long.” “The engine was really good and had plenty of horsepower the whole race.” “The guys did a great job in the pits and I can’t give them enough credit. They gave me a great car and we could have won. We were right there to do it, we just needed a few more laps.” “I got the car a little tangled up on the inside wall late in the race, but even with the damage we were strong.”

Cameron hit the inside wall along the front straight after hitting fuel on the track from a wreck in front of him. With the accident came some damage, but not enough to keep the car from finishing. Austin brought the car in under yellow for a quick adjustment by the crew and went back out with a mission to win. It was a fight to the end on the last 2 laps and Cameron was there for the finish. The team plans to take the same car to Tucson next week for the seasons second short track race in a row. “I know that the car is a little damaged from the wreck, but I don’t doubt the guys will have it repaired before I get back from Vegas, said Cameron.” “We all have a goal to win the championship and are all willing to do what it takes to succeed.” “This team is ready to win!”

Austin and the AC Motorsports crew will be heading to Tucson on Friday for the third race of the season at Tucson Raceway Park. It will be a one day show with the race taking place on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PST. The race will be televised on a tape delayed basis. Cameron will take the day Friday to visit local Tucson media and radio stations to help promote the race and series, along with advising the media on who to watch for on the podium.
