Kyle McGrady debut resulted in a top 15 finish in the Nascar Whelen All American Series. McGrady is a K&N development Driver.
The 16-year old Hesperia California resident experienced his first Late Model Stock Car event on the ½ mile track at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. McGrady drove the family owned No. 11 K&N products car.
The car was great during the test on Thursday. We made some changes on Friday during practice to get it ready for the race. After qualifying on Saturday, Kyle said he left some on the table but did not want to over drive the car. He qualified 29th in a 32-car field and raced to 15th in his first 50-lap Late Model feature on the lead lap.
McGrady joined the K&N Team when he was racing a Minicup car. He started racing at 8-years old. From the Minicup car he moved to a Pro4 (full size stock car with a 4 cylinder motor) at the age of 13, winning the 2006 Rookie of the Year and finishing 6th in point.
I am really excited about getting to race on a ½ mile track at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. McGrady hopes to compete in the West Series in the next few years, eventually competing in the Camping World Truck Series. My car has a lot of potential. Even though the competition is tough, I believe our team can be a contender ever time we come to the track. We would like to thank the Racecar Factory staff for all their support, especially Jeff Herron. They have cut our learning curve in half.
We use K&N products in our racecar as well as our tow vehicles and passengers cars. We are a big believer in their products. K&N makes the best products out there. We would like to thank them for all their support, and are very proud to be associated with them.
