On April 11, 2009 Canyon Speedway Park will crown the 2009 Spring Champions in the Pure Stock and Bomber divisions. The top fifteen in points will receive bonus points going into the remainder of the season which will crown the 2009 Canyon Speedway Park Champions.
"The intent of restructuring the points at this time is to allow cars that have raced at Manzanita Speedway during 2009 the opportunity to race for a full season championship at Canyon Speedway Park and to compete on a level playing field for the championship" said track owner/promoter Doug Gabbard. "Our loyal CSP racers will be awarded bonus points going into the new championship run with 15 pts going to the spring champion decreasing the bonus points by one point per position back to the fifteenth place in the spring final standings".
The new points run will begin April 25th and the Bombers have been added to the card alongside the Pure Stocks to kick off the 2009 points chase. Canyon will crown the 2009 season point champions on Saturday October 24th at the last regular scheduled race for these divisions. The champions and top point getters will receive their awards at the annual awards bash held at the speedway on December 5, 2009.
"We have also worked diligently on our schedule and will release the latest draft today. Our race fans will see that Late Models and Midgets have been added to our new schedule. 2009 will provide some spectacular shows at CSP!" says Gabbard.
