ROSEVILLE, California — Before a packed house of 4000 fans, Jason Philpot of Citrus Heights, Calif. pulled in a solid victory in the “Total Monitoring Services” 50 for the Grand American Modifieds at All American Speedway on Saturday night.
The events were part of the NASCAR Camping World Series West weekend at the one-third mile asphalt oval located just outside Sacramento.
Jarred Beddow of Roseville pulled off his third pole position of the season in Friday afternoon time trials, but started 11th after the field was fully inverted.
Philpot dashed from fourth on the grid to the lead by lap six, while the other heavy hitters navigated traffic.
The race was red flagged on lap 25 when Troy Nagosek had a stuck throttle and hit the turn three wall in violent fashion. Nagosek was unhurt in the incident but done for the evening.
On the restart, Scott Winters of Tracy restarted at the rear after having to pit for a fuel leak while Beddow passed Michael Newland for second.
Beddow was unable to challenge Philpot to the finish, while Winters was black flagged again on lap 45.
The top-five at the line were: Philpot, Beddow, Rich Lindgren, Rick Andersen, and Newland.
Western Scale Racing Association Baby Grands and Mini Cups also competed on Saturday.
Josh Gomes of Manteca completed a thrilling back and forth battle with Dylan Hutchison to take the 30 lap Baby Grand main event. 13 cars started the race for youth drivers.
