ANTELOPE, California — Eric Holmes heads to Phoenix International with a twenty-five point lead in the chase for his third NASCAR Camping World Series West championship. The NAPA team has a record of a win and five top fives at PIR and look at add to the win column at the Jimmie Johnson Foundation “150” on April 16th.
"I like the high speeds at PIR, more competition and racing under the lights."— Eric Holmes
Holmes led 58 of the 150-lap race last year at PIR when unfortunately after leading the most laps of the event the No. 20 NAPA Toyota ran out of fuel on the one-mile track of Phoenix International Speedway. The NAPA team got Holmes back out and he was running in 21st when a another competitor running side by side with Holmes drove him hard into the outside wall causing severe damage to the right side wheel, ending his night. The NAPA team rallied after this race and went on to win the 2008 NASCAR Camping World Series West Championship giving their race partner NAPA AUTO PARTS a fourth series championship and Toyota their first series championship.
The Jimmie Johnson Foundation “150” will run on Thursday, April 16th at Phoenix International Raceway. The race will be televised April 23rd on SPEED Channel. For more information on Bill McAnally Racing and our race partners, please visit our website at www.billmcanallyracing.com
Quotes from HOLMES: "Phoenix International Raceway is one of my favorite tracks! We had a great NAPA Toyota Camry there last year and I know BMR will have another great car contending for the win. Last week proved we are prepared to defend our championship title and I’m very excited to have the points lead this early in the season. We always have great support from the NAPA employees, storeowners and customers at PIR. We will be racing hard to give them another win at PIR.”
“I like the high speeds at PIR, more competition and racing under the lights. We practice in the heat of the day so it’s a challenge for the No. 20 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota team from BMR to get the right setup on the car to race with the cooler temperatures of the Arizona night. Our crew chief Ty Joiner and the whole BMR team are up for the challenge.”
