Jason Patison and team traveled to Greensville, SC to make their debut in the NASCAR Camping World East Series. Not only would this be Patison’s first race as a full time driver in the East Series, it was also his first race as a team owner.
"We had a very strong car during the race, if we hadn’t got caught up in that wreck we would have had a much better finish."— Jason Patison
After qualified a disappointing 20th out of 29 entrants, he knew that his car would be good on long runs and was eager for the start of the 150 lap race. When the green flag dropped Patison went to work and began passing cars in the high and low grooves. By halfway Patison had raced his way up to 9th and was working the back bumpers of the lead lap cars. Unfortunately Patison was caught up in a multi car wreck and was forced to pit to cut off sections of his number 17 machine. When the green flag waived on the restart Patison found himself at the back of the field once again. Fortunately the accident did not affect the handling and Patison was able to race his way to the front once again. When the checkered flag fell Patison had worked his way up to the 11th position.
“We had a very strong car during the race, if we hadn’t got caught up in that wreck we would have had a much better finish. But all things considered, I think it was a successful day, my team worked very hard and we have a solid finish to build on for the rest of the season,” said Patison
The team’s next race will be April 25th at Tri County Speedway. Jason Patison Racing would like to thank all of their sponsors for their support: Lucas Oil Products, E3 Sparkplugs, General Tire, SuperClean, K&N Filters, Idiaz Label and HyperKuhl.
