YAKIMA, California — It’s a new year, new rules and new cars in the 2009 H&H Furniture Pure Stock division at Yakima Speedway.
With an extensive overhaul of the rules including a new class name, so familiar teams and racers have their sights set on the 2009 H&H Furniture Pure Stock championship trophy. First points race kicks off this weekend with the 2009 Apple Cup presented by Columbia Aphalt. Cars will qualify with time-ins and run trophy dashes and heat races on Saturday afternoon. Then they come back Sunday for their extended lap Main Event to kick off the point season.
Just who will be back behind the wheel in 2009 is anyone’s guess and a question that is usually answered at the first point race of the season. Typically in racing, if someone is interested in winning a points championship they are at the first race. Among those that have already showed their cars at the track during one of the first 3 practice sessions are Rob Allen who was 4th in points last year, Derek Raptcheff 7th in points last year, Rockin’ Ron Pepper in the #09, Joe Estep and Jay Younker. Last years Hornet champion Terry Cook has been out a few times in a new car and former Stock Car driver Jeff Liebert returns to the Yakima Speedway wars after a layoff of almost a decade in a new Pure Stock. Last year’s second place car Nathan Voyles is on the fence waiting to hear if he will have a transmission in place in time for Apple Cup.
Yakima Speedway welcomes back H&H Furniture as a sponsor, and to the Pure Stock sponsorship as well. H&H Furniture invites you to watch out for the Couch Potato Promotion at Yakima Speedway each week, as some lucky fan is going to get the luxury couch seat for themselves and 3 others the following week at the race track.
