Rain has forced the cancellation of Saturday's (April 18) event for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri.
The series will return to the always racy high-banked 1/3-mile on August 7-8 for a two-day extravaganza that will pay $20,000 to win and $1,000 to start. In each of the last 14 A-Feature events at the track for the World of Outlaws, there have been 14 different winners.
After 12 nights of racing thus far in 2009, three-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz leads the championship standings, with 20-time title winner Steve Kinser just 28 markers behind him, with Jason Meyers in third, Joey Saldana fourth and Craig Dollansky fifth. More than 70 nights of racing remain from coast to coast for the best sprint car drivers in the world.
The World of Outlaws return to action on Friday, April 24 at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas.
