GRIDLEY, California — Quintin Crye guided his #73 Rueda Racing / Hybrid Haven Chevrolet to a ninth place finish in his NASCAR Whelen All-American Series debut, Saturday, at All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif.
“I want to thank Ed Rueda and all my sponsors for the opportunity to race,” Crye said. “I’m really excited about racing the Late Models and trying to get faster.”
The 20 year-old rookie made the most of his practice time and came out strong in the feature. After starting 13th, Crye quickly moved past fellow rookies Chris Scribner and Tyler Thomas.
While challenging rookie Mikey Lehman, Crye began to experience motor problems and was forced to pull out of line to preserve the car.
Crye nursed his Western Late Model home to a ninth place finish at the tail end of the lead lap.
It was a smooth debut in asphalt stockcar racing for the 2007 USAC Western Midget Rookie of the Year, and Crye showed signs of great speed in his first race on the one-third mile asphalt oval.
Crye’s next start in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series is to be announced, pending investigation of motor problems.
